CUISINE
The Kenyan Cuisine was greatly influenced by it's colonial past. The Arabs had brought dried fruits, rice and spices on their boats to this region. The arrival of the Portuguese in 1946, brought upon radical changes ,as they brought with them maize, bananas, pineapples and chillies . After the war, products from Italy were brought in, which resulted in the opening of various restaurants and pizzerias.
In most of the larger hotels and resorts, the cuisine is based on typical international foods, complimented by the local fruits and seafood's.
As for beverages, wines etc. are very expensive , due to the importation of these wines from various countries. The local beer is regarded as one of the world's best beer and costs less than a bottle of mineral water. As for soft drinks, this also is reasonably priced and readily available every where.

CLOTHING
The clothing required under these hot and almost humid conditions, would mostly be cotton, as synthetics such as nylon , would prove to be very uncomfortable. As for the beach , great freedom could be enjoyed, but nudism is strictly forbidden. The evenings, safaris would require warmer clothing.
To enter the mosques, please ensure that , feet, legs and shoulders are covered. Before entering this sacred place of worship, shoes will have to be removed and placed outside the entrance.

CLIMATE
Kenya is situated on the equator and enjoys a very stable climate. Warm weather during the day and cool at night. The ideal time to visit this country would be December to March. April marks the start of the rainy season and ends around June. July, through to October offers excellent weather conditions and this period coincides conveniently with
The summer vacation time period in Europe.

LANGUAGES
The official languages spoken here are, first Swahili, then English. The town Malindi, has a very large Italian community, thus, the Italian language is spoken in most hotels and resorts.
